Tip of the month: May
The month of May will see the fish at Abbey start to get really active and they will be spending much of their time searching and exploring the lakes. This time of year is therefore perfect for putting in larger quantities of bait as they will be looking for food and if done correctly, this will keep the carp longer in your swim.
The boilie approach is a perfect spring tactic and by introducing 1 to 2 kg of your favourite boilie at the start of your session and then regularly topping up with 50 to 100 baits, you should see the fish returning time and time again searching for more.
A neat little edge that has worked well for the Angling International guys is to use a coloured piece of corn or soon to be released Avid Carp Sight Stop to tip off your hookbait. This extra little colour makes the hookbait stand out amongst your freebies with yellow, orange and pink the most successful.
Good luck if you are venturing over to the Abbey complex in May. It's a great time to be out there with the fish at their top weights and plenty of glorious spring sunshine.
